Each member of our Acteeva Staff is responsible for promoting a fun, creative, caring, and inclusive environment for our campers to explore, discover and create. As a member of our staff, you will be an integral part of our camp community and a mentor and role model for our campers. All staff help campers discover their strengths and interests by facilitating activities to help them build and develop their skills and confidence. Acteeva Site Director
The Acteeva Site Director is responsible
for organizing and supervising an Acteeva school site. They should
have previous experience supervising a recreation, camp and/or
school program. It is essential that the Site Director have
experience supervising a team of staff and be comfortable with
program planning, developing lessons, and organizing curriculum.
Pervious experience working at Roughing It Day Camp is preferred and
priority will be given to those who have experience within the
Roughing It Family of Camps. The Site Director is responsible for
the day to day organization of the site, supervising the program
staff, insuring the high quality of the programs and activities, and
communicating with parents and Roughing It Administrators. The Site
Director is also responsible for completing formal written
evaluations on all Acteeva staff at their site. The Site Director
reports directly to the Acteeva Camps Director. Ideally the Site
Director would be available to work several hours a week in the
months leading up to the start of camp (April May) to assist with
program development, enrollments, training, and site set-up.
Pre-Requisites:
Minimum age: college graduate or 25 years old
Current 1st Aid and CPR certifications
Excellent driving record
Must attend Administrative Staff Training &
Staff Training
Working knowledge of basic computer programs including but not
limited to Microsoft Office, ACT!, Microsoft Access, Internet
Explorer

Hours: 50 hours a week, Monday Friday
Assistant Site Director
The Assistant Site Director works directly with
the Site Director to supervise and organize the Acteeva program. He
or she should have previous supervisory or administrative experience
in a camp, recreation, or school based program. The Assistant Site
Director is responsible for the parent communication and is the main
point of contact for Acteeva clients. The Assistant Site Director
oversees enrollment, fields parent/client questions, and generally
assists the Site Director with on-site tasks such as organizing
supplies, program development and overall supervision of campers and
staff. The Assistant Site Director works a Friday Tuesday
schedule in order to be available to parents during the weekend,
complete enrollment paperwork, and organize the beginning of each
new session.
Pre-Requisites
Minimum age: 21
Current 1st Aid and CPR
certifications
Excellent driving record
Must attend Administrative Staff Training & Staff Training
Working knowledge of basic computer programs including but not

Sports Counselor
The Sports Counselor is responsible for their Acteeva sites entire
sports program and will plan and facilitate age appropriate
activities for campers of all ages and athletic abilities. He/She
is required to maintain all sports equipment. The Sports Counselor
will assist other staff in organizing and implementing activities at
Acteeva. They may also be called upon to assist the Site Director
and Assistant Site Director with administrative tasks as needed and
to provide additional supervision during group times when not
leading an activity. The Sports Counselor should have a strong
background in a variety of sports, and will be expected to teach a
broad range of skills. Previous experience working with children is
strongly recommended, especially in a teaching role.

Camp Crafts
Counselor
The Camp Crafts Counselor is responsible for their Acteeva sites
entire crafts program. This counselor orders and organizes all
crafts supplies, plans age appropriate craft activities/projects,
and facilitates and supervises the camp crafts program. Projects
range from beginner collages to more advanced plaster masks,
woodworking, and pottery. The camp crafts counselor will assist
other staff in organizing and implementing activities at Acteeva.
They may also be called upon to assist the Site Director and
Assistant Site Director with administrative tasks as needed and to
provide additional supervision during group times when not leading
an activity. The crafts counselor must be creative, patient, and
would benefit from previous experience teaching and organizing a
crafts program. Prior experience working with children is strongly
recommended.

Environmental
Education Counselor
The Environmental Education Counselor will organize and implement a
camp curriculum focusing around nature appreciation, environmental
awareness, as well as other topics pertaining to animals and their
habitats. These topics are taught to campers of all ages, through
fun activities, discussions, and nature exploration. The
Environmental Education counselor will assist other staff in
organizing and implementing activities at Acteeva. They may also be
called upon to assist the Site Director and Assistant Site Director
with administrative tasks as needed and to provide additional
supervision during group times when not leading an activity. This
counselor should have a strong knowledge of the environment and
other related subjects, and would benefit from prior experience
teaching topics of nature. Experience working with children is
strongly recommended.

Outdoor Counselor
The Outdoor Counselor will create and implement a camp curriculum
that includes map and compass skills, wilderness exploration,
outdoor living skills and lessons in wilderness survival and first
aid. This counselor will plan fun activities that are age
appropriate and challenging for campers of all ages. He/she is
responsible for leading and supervising campers in wilderness
related activities, and should have the training and knowledge
necessary to successfully teach these skills and activities. The
Outdoor Counselor will assist other staff in organizing and
implementing activities at Acteeva. They may also be called upon to
assist the Site Director and Assistant Site Director with
administrative tasks as needed and to provide additional supervision
during group times when not leading an activity. Previous experience
working with children is strongly recommended.

Group Counselor
Group Counselors head a group of campers. Groups are divided based
on camper age and interest. Group Counselors facilitate group
dynamics, help campers organize their day, and provide a point
person for their campers. Group Counselors will spend each
week-long session with a specific group of campers. In addition to
their responsibilities as a group facilitator, Group Counselors will
also be responsible for organizing and executing one activity
session daily. Activities will be based around Sports,
Environmental Education, Outdoor Activities, Crafts, Performing
Arts, and traditional camp games. Group Counselors should have
previous experience working with children. Experience in a teaching
environment or with team building games is recommended.

Hours: 45 hours/week Monday Friday
Assistant Counselor
The Assistant Counselor serves as a support for Group Counselors and
Program Staff such as the Sports, Environment and Crafts
counselors. The Assistant Counselor aids in program planning,
organizing for camp activities, and provides additional supervision
for campers during organized camp activities and free periods such
as free play and lunch. Previous experience working with children
or teaching is not required although it is preferred. This is a
part-time position and Assistant Counselors are scheduled to work
six hours/day, Monday-Friday.
Pre-Requisites:
Minimum age: 16 years old and completed Sophomore year in High
School
Current 1st Aid and CPR certification
Must attend Staff Training in its entirety
Salary:
Hours: 30 hours/week, Monday-Friday
Support Staff
The Acteeva Support staff assists Site Director and Assistant Site
Director with day to day administrative duties. They are
responsible for communicating with parents, processing registrations
and payments, answering phones, taking messages, and running errands
as needed. The Acteeva Support staff may also be called on to
assist with the Roughing It Day Camp Registrar. The summer
secretary should have excellent communication/phone skills, have the
ability to type accurately and quickly, and should possess a good
knowledge of computers and use of the Internet.
Pre-Requisites
Minimum age: 18 years old or completed High School
